Why I created the Mood Tracker App

There were times this year when I felt totally fine in the morning… and completely overwhelmed by the afternoon. I started wondering: Why is my mood changing so much? I didn’t always have answers — but I knew I needed to pay closer attention.

That’s how the idea for the Mood Tracker App came to life.

I wanted a simple way to check in with how I was feeling each day, no pressure, no long journaling, just a few seconds to pause and notice. I designed the app so anyone (especially students like me) could use it quickly, either after school, before bed, or even in between classes.

Picking one emoji a day sounds small, but over time it helped me see patterns. I realized that certain days were consistently more stressful, and that even short walks or music made a real difference.

For me, coding this app was a way to combine two things I care about: mental health and technology. I’m still learning, but building something that helps even a few people feel more in control of their emotions feels worth it.

If you give it a try, I hope it helps you check in with yourself too, in a kind, honest way.
